A fall exhibition of wonder, weirdness, and whimsy, Creatures & Curiosities invites visitors into a world where the mysterious, magical, and unexpected come to life.

Featuring artwork inspired by real and imagined creatures, peculiar objects, folklore, oddities, and unexplained phenomena, the exhibition celebrates imagination in all its forms. From mythical beasts and enchanted forests to curious characters and natural wonders, each piece offers a unique glimpse into the strange, the whimsical, and the wonderfully curious.

The Vernon Buddhist Temple will host a Meditation Session from 2:30 to 3:30pm at the People Place. Reverend Hirano (Hirano Sensei) will lead the session and give instructions to meditate sitting on the floor or in a chair if requested. Immediately following, we will have a Pure Land Buddhist Service which will finish around 5pm. Please email vernonbuddhisttemple@gmail.com if you would like more information. On October 24 from 7:00pm-12:00am, leave the ordinary world at the door and enter The Odditorium - a dark and dusty carnival where science, spectacle, and the strange collide.

Inspired by the faded sideshows and wandering carnivals of the Dustbowl era, The Odditorium celebrates the weird, wonderful, grotesque, and downright curious. Wander through a world of strange experiments, peculiar performances, carnival games, and hands-on oddities designed for the delightfully twisted mind.

Chris Murphy has been in the band Sloan for over 30 years. Chris got into the super group game in 2015 when he formed a trio called TUNS (rhymes with buns) with Matt Murphy (Super Friendz/The Flashing Lights) and Mike O’Neill (The Inbreds). Now on a supergroup kick, he formed Trans-Canada Highwaymen in 2017 with Steven Page (ex Barenakedladies), Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness) and Craig Northey (Odds).

Rustler's Table at Vernon's Historic O'Keefe Ranch will be hosting local musician and singer Marv Machura and welcoming guests to the dance floor, 7-9 pm. "I will be performing all the great country dance music from artists like Allan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Brooks and Dunn, etc." said Machura. It will be a two-stepping good time for all those who love to listen to and dance to country music.
