The Bradley Creek Wildfire is currently classified as Being Held by the BC Wildfire Service, meaning it is not expected to spread beyond its current boundaries under current conditions. The City of Vernon continues to support the wildfire response alongside emergency partners. 

There is currently no fire activity within the City of Vernon related to the Bradley Creek Wildfire.

The Emergency Support Services (ESS) Reception Centre at Kal Tire Place, 3445 43rd Avenue, Vernon, is open to assist residents displaced by the Bradley Creek Wildfire.

ESS can help evacuees access supports for basic needs, such as shelter and food.

Evacuees can register for ESS in one of three ways:

1. Visit the ESS Reception Centre at Kal Tire Place, 3445 43rd Avenue, Vernon.
2. Call the BC Evacuee Helpline at 1-800-387-4258.
   Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (including statutory holidays).
3. Complete Self-Service Registration online at ess.gov.bc.ca. 
   To streamline the registration process, set up the BC Services Card app on your phone first, then create an Emergency Support Services profile using the Evacuee Registration and Assistance (ERA) tool to ensure your accounts are linked.

No. Evacuees who are able to complete the registration process remotely do not need to attend the Reception Centre in person.

ESS support is available by phone for those who can complete the registration process remotely.

To receive ESS supports through e-transfer, evacuees must have the BC Services Card App.

The Reception Centre is open daily to help evacuees connect with support. Hours are subject to change based on demand (most often it is open 9 am to 5 pm). 

Limited group lodging has been established at the Vernon Recreation Centre Auditorium for evacuees who require overnight accommodations.

Evacuees must pre-register with ESS before accessing group lodging.

Residents who are able to stay with family or friends are strongly encouraged to do so, as group lodging is intended for those who do not have other accommodation options.

Residents travelling in and around the North Okanagan are encouraged to check DriveBC before heading out to plan their route.

Motorists are asked to avoid travelling to wildfire affected areas to allows emergency personnel to move efficiently and support ongoing firefighting efforts.

Boaters and recreational users are reminded to stay well clear of firefighting aircraft operating on and around Okanagan Lake.
BC Wildfire Service aircraft require space to safely and efficiently collect water. If aircraft are nearby, please clear the area immediately and remain close to shore to avoid interfering with firefighting operations and to help protect the safety of responders and the public.

Kal Tire Place rentals will operate on a modified schedule.

Ice bookings will continue as planned and are not impacted by Reception Centre operations.

The walking track program at Kal Tire Place has resumed with reduced hours and is currently available daily from 6 to 8 a.m. and 5 to 9 p.m., subject to facility operating hours. Users are encouraged to check the walking track Google Calendar for the most up-to-date schedule before attending.

The City has received an overwhelming response from community members interested in volunteering and helping their neighbours. ESS is a provincial program, and volunteer intake includes orientation and training to ensure volunteers are prepared to support emergency response.

Serving as an ESS volunteer is a meaningful year-round commitment that helps strengthen our community’s readiness before, during, and after emergencies.

While formal volunteer intake will take place in the fall, the City is collecting names from residents interested in joining the ESS program. Residents can add their name to the volunteer interest list.
